Let Gen. Petraeus And Other Men Of Distinction Lead Healthy Sex Lives

Published November 12, 2012

One cannot watch a sporting event on television these days without seeing at least one ad for a male impotence drug.  Male impotence has gained our national attention, and one is left wondering why there is such an apparent increase in men failing to raise the flag on their proverbial flagpoles.

This Veterans Day let us examine the unfair criticism and premature ending to the career of General Petraeus.  General Petraeus resigned from his post on Friday after an FBI witch hunt exposed an extramarital affair with his biographer Paula Broadwell.

Petraeus, who turned 60 on Wednesday, first met his wife Holly when he was a cadet at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, N.Y. The future Mrs. Petraeus was the daughter of the academy superintendent.  Undoubtedly, in most ways Holly was the ideal military wife bearing the General two children.

Holly [Petraeus] transformed herself from the lithe young girl into a bloated and gray whale of a woman.

Sadly, as with so many aging wives in the United States Holly languished even as her husband labored to bring success and prestige of the family. Holly [Petraeus] transformed herself from the lithe young girl into a bloated and gray whale of a woman.

At the very same time two U.S. presidents called upon Gen. Petraeus to turn the tides of war in Iraq and later Afghanistan, the leader had nowhere to “discharge” his own “weapon” apart from his portly princess.  Safe from the treacherous nooks and crannies of Iraq facing her husband she undoubtedly spent many days and nights emptying so many bags of Oreos into her orifice.

The Petraeus family tale raises a very serious question that we must address as a society: Should we expect our men of distinction to forgo mistresses? Should we do so even if their wives do not maintain their feminine figures?  Do we benefit as a society when our men of distinction must choose between ghastly sex with obese, middle-aged women or career-ending trysts?  Do we benefit if our most virile men must reduce their sex lives to porn videos on their laptops?

To be great leaders men of distinction must have healthy sex lives.  It is too late for General Petraeus to return to his post as CIA Director.  On the other hand, future men of distinction should be left alone to lead healthy sex lives.  The safety and security of our republic may depend upon it.
