Obama Administration Clips Nail Salon Worker Shortage Problem - Page 2

First Page

Fortunately, the Obama administration has recognized the issue and taken action.  On the eve of the nation’s birthday, the White House announced that it will begin exercising prosecutorial discretion and stop enforcing immigration laws with respect to nail salon workers.  “These workers contribute to the economy and do jobs Americans just do not want,” said Immigration and Customs Enforcement Director John Morton in a written statement released on July 3.

According to the statement, if an undocumented nail salon worker can present a written statement from a nail salon owner attesting that she or he works at her or his nail salon, that worker shall not be inconvenienced with any deportation proceedings.

“I need more workers, it’s as simple as that,” said Volk.  According to Volk, American workers often complain about the chemical fumes on their first day and do not last.  Hopefully, the needs of nail salon owners will bring simple solutions for reform from Washington.
