NASA Administrator Bolden created a firestorm in July after telling Al Jazeera that President Obama told him before he took the job that his first priority should be “to find a way to reach out to the Muslim world and engage much more with dominantly Muslim nations to help them feel good about their historic contribution to science ... and math and engineering.”

In a tweet on Sunday, Bolden tried to minimize the technology to be shared.  “We are mainly talking about algorithms – numbers!  Muslims invented numbers.”

“It sounds cliché, but you catch more bees with honey than with vinegar.  The U.S.needs to atone for the brutal wars it has waged against Muslim peoples.”

A White House spokesperson said that their could be some computer hardware exchanged in additional to rocket thruster design technology.  “Ideally, we train their own young people in our universities so that they can learn to help themselves,” said the source.

Professor of Sociology at the University of New Brunswick Judith Kern said the outreach plan should reap dividends.  “It sounds cliché, but you catch more bees with honey than with vinegar,” she said.  “The U.S. needs to atone for the brutal wars it has waged against Muslim peoples.”

According to Professor of Social Work at Evergreen State College Donna Moore space exploration could improve the self-esteem of Muslims, making them less hostile.  “Self-esteem is so important in being well-adapted,” she said.  “It is axiomatic that exploring space would add to their self-esteem and promote peace.”
