Fault Lines Forming In Jason Collins' Coming Out Party - Page 2

First Page

In a statement issued by his agent, Collins said on Saturday that speculation that he was not gay was “unfounded and slanderous.”  Also according to the statement, now that Collins has gone public, his “dress and demeanor” should be expected to change in the coming weeks “to reflect his true – and very gay – self.”

Some doubters believe that Collins may face an inverse challenge as the one faced by characters played by Robin Williams and Nathan Lane in the film “The Birdcage.”  Rather than pretending to be straight, Collins will need to pretend to be gay.  Moreover, he will suffer the scrutiny of the entire sporting and gay community in the process.

Best-selling author and conspiracy theorist Bart Sibrol said that he wants to see evidence of an ex-boyfriend.  “You like sleeping with boys, then show me one you’ve slept with.” said Sibrol.  Sibrol intends to investigate what he calls “Collins-Gate” further and publish his findings.

NBA experts expect that to show solidarity with the gay community the Golden State Warriors will offer Collins a multi-year contract for as much as $10 million.  As questions surrounding Collins’ sexuality percolate, Warriors scouts could be studying “post moves” of a different kind this summer before signing him.
